NAFEW 2022 Timeline

  • September 2021

    Shortened version decision for 2021 and postpone to 2022

    Given the pandemic and the impossibility of welcoming travelers from abroad, the committee postponed the meeting to 2022. In order not to lose the rhythm, a half-day of conferences was organized.

  • June 2021

    Mid-day Meeting

    Lisa Venier from NRCan opened the meeting and Paul Rogers from Utah State University moderated the lectures. Four keynote speakers delivered excellent presentations. A discussion session with a panel followed.

  • September 2021

    Call for special sessions

    First call for proposals for special sessions. Special sessions will be designed to have ample time for discussion. Sessions will be 120 minutes in duration and will include 5-7 speakers with 10 minutes for each presentation including time for at least one question. Proposals will be due on Nov 1, 2021 and responses will be sent in early November.

    First Keynote confirmed

    We are pleased to announce that Dr. Deborah Dumroese has confirmed her presence as Keynote speaker

    Call for special sessions extended

    We have received several requests for extensions for the submission to special sessions. We are extending the deadline for submission to November 15, 2021

    Second Keynote confirmed

    We are pleased to announce that Dr. Jill Johnstone has confirmed her presence as Keynote speakers

  • November 10, 2021

    Third Keynote confirmed

    We are pleased to announce that Dr. David Lindenmayer has confirmed his presence as Keynote speaker

  • December 17, 2021

    First call for abstract

    The first call to submit an abstract is now launched! The deadline for submitting a contributed abstract is February 28, 2022

  • January 5, 2022

    Last Keynote confirmed

    We are pleased to announce that Dr. Eliot McIntire has confirmed his presence as Keynote speaker

  • January 26, 2022

    NAFEW is going virtual

    The uncertainty created by COVID has led us to decide to hold our June 2022 conference in a virtual format rather than in-person. We are sad about this difficult decision but we do believe that it is in everyone's best interest at this point. We are working diligently to create a captivating virtual conference for June 2022!

    CJFR Special Issue

    NAFEW Organizing Committee announces extended abstract invitations for publication in the Canadian Journal of Forest Research Special Issue. Deadline to submit is May 31, 2022.

    Dr. Jill Johnstone regrettably announces that a scheduling conflict will prevent her from speaking at this year's NAFEW Virtual Conference.

    A new conference room has been added to the schedule and we have named it after Roberta Bondar, Canada's first female astronaut, born and raised in Sault Ste Marie, who now uses photography to capture the beauty of landscapes and biodiversity of our planet.
